1608 – How do I import a student database?

You can assign student names to devices from database files. Import your existing database, or generate and export a database using ActivInspire. This article explains how to import a student database in ActivInspire.

Ensure you have a database with the file extension .edb or .csv. The database must contain the first and last names of each student, as well as their student ID. Other information, such as gender and date of birth, is optional.

Open the Voting Browser and click Assign students to devices. Alternatively, go to the Edit menu and select Student Database.

Click Edit Database.

Firstly, you need to create a class. Click Add Class and type the Class Name, Teacher Name, and click Submit.

Import your students by clicking Import. Browse to your .edb or .csv student database file, and click OK.

Your database will be presented as follows:

Click at the top of each column to set the appropriate header, and then click Import.

Once you have imported your students’ details, select the class and student names, and click the left arrow button to add those students to the selected class.

Click OK. Your student database has been created.

Now you can assign devices to students in your class.
