No, Promethean ActivOffice works with PowerPoint 2007 and 2010 only. 

Which operating systems are available for Promethean ActivOffice?

Windows only, with the following versions supported:

Is a there a Mac OS X version of Promethean ActivOffice available?

No, Promethean ActivOffice was designed to be used with Microsoft PowerPoint within the Windows Operating System (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7).

Are there any requirements before I install Promethean ActivOffice?

Microsoft .NET is required to install Promethean ActivOffice. We highly recommend that before you launch Promethean ActivOffice, download and install Microsoft Office 2007 (SP1 and SP2) updates and all ActivDriver (Windows only) updates.

Please note that Adobe Reader (v 9 or above) is required to view the Getting Started guide. The document will not display in earlier versions of Adobe.

What is the licensing behind Promethean ActivOffice and on how many machines can I install it?

Licensing for Promethean ActivOffice is similar to licensing for ActivInspire, which includes licensing for single user, multi-user and enterprise. Please review the license agreement.

What products can Promethean ActivOffice be used with?

The software has been designed to be used in conjunction with:

  • Promethean ActivBoard 100, 300 and 500 Series
  • Promethean Student Response Devices: ActivExpression, ActivEngage or ActiVote. Promethean ActivOffice cannot be used with ActivEngage2. 

How many PowerPoint files can be open when using Promethean ActivOffice?

The Presentation Toolbox works if one PowerPoint slide show is open at a time. Multiple open presentations are not supported.

Do I need to install ActivInspire to run Promethean ActivOffice?

Promethean ActivOffice is a standalone plug-in for PowerPoint and does not require users to have ActivInspire installed.

Can I use Promethean ActivOffice simultaneously with ActivInspire?

Promethean ActivOffice cannot be used in conjunction with ActivInspire. You must close one programme prior to opening the other.

What languages are available in Promethean ActivOffice?

Promethean ActivOffice is available in Arabic, English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, German, Italian, Spanish and Turkish. 

Can I use existing PowerPoint slides with Promethean ActivOffice?

Yes, previously created PowerPoint slides can be used. However, if saved, they will be saved in the new PowerPoint (.pptx) format.

Can slides created in Promethean ActivOffice be shown on a computer which doesn’t have this software installed?

Yes and annotations made previously in Promethean ActivOffice will be shown as well. Of course, further annotation capability would be dependent upon having Promethean ActivOffice installed.

Which devices can I use with Promethean ActivOffice?

All Promethean Student Response Devices are compatible with Promethean ActivOffice.

How do I download Promethean ActivOffice?

The software can be downloaded from our Support site. You can obtain a copy at no cost if you are a user of the following products:

  • 500 or 300 series Interactive ActivBoards
  • Student Response Devices (kits of ActivExpression or ActiVote with an ActivHub)
  • ActivInspire Professional Edition

Can I show slides created in Promethean ActivOffice on basic PowerPoint?

Yes, you can view all annotations made but you won’t have the functionality you get with Promethean ActivOffice, such as access Student Response Device functionality.

Does Promethean ActivOffice support Self-Paced Student Response questions?

Yes, by using the Question Manager self-paced Student Response Device questions can be created, saved, managed and run to enable participants to respond at their own pace.

Can I import previously created question sets into Promethean ActivOffice presentations?

Yes, using the Question Manager you are able import your own question sets and run them in self- paced mode.

Does Promethean ActivOffice support multiple monitors?

Promethean ActivOffice does not fully support multiple monitors. We recommend that you used cloned display to use the full functionality of the software.

If you wish to use extended monitors, although not supported, we recommend that you show the presentation on the main or first display in your graphics settings.
