ActivBoard 300 Pro and 500 Pro have built-in speakers. ActivBoard 300 Standard can be upgraded by purchasing an audio upgrade kit from your local Promethean reseller.
Ensure you are using ActivDriver version 220.127.116.11 or above. To update your ActivDriver, please visit the ActivDriver support page.
Connect the ActivBoard USB cable to your computer and ensure the amplifier is switched on. Press and hold the ON STANDBY button until the light turns green.
If the ActivBoard is not automatically recognised as an audio device, reboot the computer. Audio will now play from your ActivBoard’s speakers. If the audio doesn’t play through the ActivBoard’s speakers, you will need to configure your computer’s settings. Please follow the instructions below for your operating system.
Click on Start | Control Panel | Hardware and Sound | Sound.
In the Audio tab, ensure the Sound Playback device is set to Promethean USB Audio / USB Audio Device, and click OK.
This should ensure that any sound played on your computer will be outputted via the speakers on your ActivBoard.
Open System Preferences and select Sound.
In the Sound window, click the Output tab, and ensure Promethean USB Audio / USB Audio Device is selected.
Close the window.
Your sound output should now be from your ActivBoard speakers.
If you have followed the above, and are still unable to hear sound from your ActivBoard, please ensure that:
- The ActivBoard amplifier is switched on and powered, indicated by a green light behind the button on the left side of the ActivBoard
- The volume is turned up on the amplifier
- The volume is turned up on the wallbox (if applicable)
- Your computer is not set to mute
- You have tried a known working laptop or computer from another classroom
